I keep seeing ads like, “Delete social media – it's ruining your self-esteem.”

Do we need to delete social media because it’s bad for our mental health? Probably.

Are we going to? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Let’s be real—sometimes that little escapism scroll is the only peace we get all day. We're told mindfulness is good for us, and I agree, but doom scrolling? That’s the mindlessness hit we actually crave.

Is it the healthiest thing for us? Apparently not. But guess what—we’re all addicted and we’re not logging off anytime soon. So instead of deleting our apps and pretending we’re better than that, let’s curate our feeds.

Unfollow Delilah.

You know the one:

Perfect lighting.

Fresh sourdough every day.

Flawless skin.

Children dressed like Pinterest angels.

And somehow her kitchen is always clean.

Delilah’s content isn’t aspirational, it’s emotional self-harm.

Unfollow. That. Bitch.

But for real—absolutely no hate on the Delilahs. Honestly, we’re just jealous. We wish we were as perfect as you… well, at least the version of you that you’re projecting to the world. Because let’s be honest—no one has it all together. There’s always a crack somewhere. Maybe it’s a crumbling marriage, a secret addiction, or a mental breakdown hiding behind that curated aesthetic. (More on that in another blog post.)

We’re not judging. We’re just tired. And realistic.

Watching you with your homemade everything and kids who drink chia seed-kale juice without gagging, while we’re over here just trying to remember the last time we washed our hair… it just isn’t good for our self-esteem Delilah!

It’s about protecting our own mental health. We just need to follow people who aren’t going to make us hate ourselves and feel like we’re failing.

Follow Real.

Follow the mum who’s in mismatched socks, holding her fifth coffee, filming a rant in her car while her toddler screams in the background. Follow the one who jokes about hiding in the pantry just to eat a cookie alone.

Follow the sweatpants tribe!

These are your people. They are funny, relatable, and real. And more importantly, they don’t make you feel like a failure for not being a walking Pinterest board.

Your Happiness Matters.

We need to stop idolising mum-fluencers that portray a perfectly curated life. That’s not real motherhood—that’s a highlight reel with a ring light.

Our happiness, as mothers, is so important. Not just for our families, but for ourselves. If we’re constantly comparing, constantly measuring ourselves against digital illusions, we lose sight of the messy, beautiful chaos of our own lives.

Find YOUR Version of Balance

You don’t need to be Delilah. You don’t need a morning routine with turmeric shots and affirmation playlists. You need a version of balance that works for you. One where you feel sane, supported, and seen.

Ask yourself:

  • What drains me on social media?

  • What makes me laugh, feel less alone, or actually helps me cope?

  • Who do I want in my digital village?

We aren't going to delete social media. So lets just unfollow the Delilahs and start following more mums with dark circles under their eyes, and mystery shit stains to clean of the couch.
